Day 51

I love it when the ICU staff are relaxed on the weekends – they let me stay a little longer, and today they also let me in early. I got to Colin at 2:15 but they were just busy with him, so I waited a bit and got to see him from 2:30 until 6:45 … [Read more…]

Day 50

Today was a better day. Colin is feeling a little better, and he ate half of his lunch, plus a little pot of fruit I took for him. He also had a small drink of water. We did his arm physio, and I rubbed his feet and legs, but he didn’t feel well enough to … [Read more…]

Day 49

Colin is not well at all, and is still feeling very nauseous and extra sensitive. He is finding it difficult to talk, and is hot and cold and clammy, and there is nothing I can do to ease his pain. He is still not eating – has had nothing at all today, didn’t want the … [Read more…]

Day 48

This morning I woke up later than I meant to. Last night I sat in the bath and sobbed and sobbed. I was so scared and all I could think was that this was not going to have a happy ending. I went to sleep with a sleeping pill, and of course, I didn’t hear … [Read more…]

Day 47 part 2

I have just got back from the Fourways Life hospital where Colin is in the ICU again. He got there around maybe 2:15pm, and I was only able to see him after 5 or so. He is in terrible pain, and is back on the filter on the trachy which means he can’t really talk. … [Read more…]

Day 47

Unfortunately, Colin has had a bladder infection, a raised temperature, and fevers for 4 days now, and the rehab centre has waited until the results were back from his urine test before giving him anything for it. He has felt progressively worse, and I didn’t go see him yesterday because I just needed a day … [Read more…]

Day 46

I have spent the whole day doing admin, and didn’t see Colin. I will see him again tomorrow, and can’t wait. I miss him, and I know he misses me. I am really worried – he had a bladder infection yesterday, and his temp was elevated. Please spare a thought for him. Today I am … [Read more…]

Day 44

We went to see Colin a little late this morning – we all woke up late. He was just getting into his chair, so we went outside, and then into the garden. He loves to go outside, and once he is in his chair, he can almost go anywhere he wants. Yesterday, one of the … [Read more…]

Day 43

Colin is doing well. He can clench his right bum cheek. I am so tired I am weepy. All is well, but I am going to go to sleep now. Today I am grateful for a warm bed and a kitty to cuddle while Colin is not here.
