Technique: Asymmetrical earrings with extruder detail
Win: Absolutely
Challenge:
• Creating a symmetrical pair of asymmetrical shapes
• Inserting the extruder detail in a way that felt balanced and intentional
Lessons Learned:
• Some colours show up much better than others when used in layers
• The top layer sometimes needs to be varnished so it stands out from the back layer
• The top layer may need to be lighter than the darkest colour in the cane in order to “pop” when the layers are combined
Confidence Level: 9/10
Notes:
• I saw something like this a while ago and wanted to make a pair for myself.
• I really love the cane detail from my extruder. However, I think it would have shown up better if the background had been red or silver rather than black. Against the black it feels slightly lost, and the separation between the layers is not as strong as it could be.
• I used a texture tool on the background layer which helped it to show as a separate layer.
