Technique: Simple two-piece dangling earrings
Win: Mostly
Challenge
- Making two matching two-piece earrings with clean, neat edges
- Ensuring the structural edge was strong enough to hold the joint between the pieces
- Working with extremely thin pieces created by the cutter
Lessons Learned
- I get much better results when I roll and cut directly on the surface that goes into the oven. Moving detailed pieces afterward causes distortion.
- Edge blending is difficult and needs more practice to make it neat and controlled.
Confidence Level: 8/10
Notes
- I wanted to experiment with increasing the thickness of the flower stem. The cutter creates a very thin slice, so I tried doubling the clay by hand. The result was uneven and a bit squiggly.
- This technique definitely needs more practice.
For the little flower centres, I used a little mould I got at the charity shop for a few bucks. WOOHOO!
