Day 43 – 100 Days of Polymer Clay

This felt like a gentle experiment rather than a bold success—one of those pieces that whispers instead of sings.

Working with white, I created a calm, almost airy foundation, and the hint of glitter gave just enough life to keep it from feeling flat. Paired with the light blue grout, the overall effect leaned soft and subtle, like something you’d wear without thinking twice—but still feel quietly pleased about.

The technique itself, though, is still finding its footing in my hands.

The embossing folder did its job, but perhaps not in the way I needed. The pattern felt a little too spaced out, and not quite deep enough to really hold the grout in a way that makes it stand out. Instead of a crisp contrast, the effect was more muted—pleasant, but not striking.

That said, this didn’t feel like a failure. It felt like a clue.

There’s something here worth chasing: deeper textures, tighter patterns, maybe even more contrast in colour. The method works—it just needs the right surface to come alive.

And then, quietly trailing behind everything else, is that ongoing lesson: the backs. Precision isn’t second nature yet, but it’s becoming more visible to me—and that awareness is its own kind of progress.

A soft result, a handful of insights, and a technique that’s definitely not done with me yet.

Day 43

You can see here that the white line on the blue stud is not as crisp as it should be. This is because when I lifted the cutter, I smudged the line a little. You can see that the blue line is better on the bottom half.
