Day 4
Technique: Simple shape with layered flowers
Win: Mostly
Challenge:
- Use up my small, colourful scraps
- Create a clean shape with a strong edge and polished finish
Lessons Learned:
- I still need to be intentional about my colour combinations
- I love creating clean shapes, and I can feel my edge control improving
Confidence Level: 8/10
Notes:
- I’m pleased that I used up my smaller colour pieces for the flowers, even if I’m not fully convinced the palette sings in harmony. The experiment mattered.
- After marbling the pastels and cutting the flowers, I mixed those tones again to create green for the leaves.
- Colour mixing continues to surprise me. The final shade is never quite what I expect, and that unpredictability is part of the learning.
Today was about refinement. I worked simply, but not casually. I paid attention to edges, to finish, to how pieces come together.
I am beginning to feel the difference between making something and shaping something well. My hands are learning control. My eye is learning discernment.
Not every colour combination will be perfect, and that is part of the practice. Experimenting matters. Using what I have matters. Finishing cleanly matters.
I am building skill, not just pieces. Eight out of ten confidence tells me I am growing — not guessing. Tomorrow, I keep going. See you all then.
