Day 47: Makume Gane Pendant and Matching Earrings
This was one of those deeply satisfying days where creativity and technique met in perfect rhythm. Working with a makume gane slab felt almost like uncovering a hidden story within the clay—each slice revealing a little surprise, a little intention made visible.
The challenge lay in shaping that story into something cohesive: a convex circular pendant paired with matching earrings, all while trying to coax both a floral motif and a dotted pattern from the slab. It asked for both control and a willingness to experiment.
And this time, it worked.
There’s a quiet confidence that comes from understanding a material just a bit better than before. Realising—again—that depth matters. That pressing the final colour deeply into the block isn’t just a step, but the step that allows the pattern to fully come alive.
More than anything, this day reaffirmed a simple truth: I genuinely enjoy this process. The slicing, the revealing, the shaping—it’s not just technique, it’s exploration.
A strong win, and one that feels like a foundation for even more intricate designs ahead.
