Technique: Seascape Pendant
Win: Yes
Challenge:
- To create a large pendant featuring a simple seascape
- To create tiny shells and a small crab as embellishments
- To blend the sand and sea together naturally
Lessons Learned:
- I really enjoyed making this piece, and it felt very different from creating miniature items, which I often struggle to enjoy
- Working on a larger design felt more relaxing and creatively satisfying for me
- I love the way the different blues blended together to create the sea
- The surf bubbles turned out especially well and added movement and texture to the piece
- Simple scenes can sometimes be more effective than highly detailed ones
Confidence Level: 9/10
This one felt like a tiny pocket-sized coastline
Less “miniature precision surgery,” and more “wandering barefoot along an imaginary beach with a pocket full of blue clay.”
