Day 52 – 100 Days of Polymer Clay

Day 52
Technique: Tool holder
Win: Yes

Challenge:
• To create a little tool holder that looks like a tube of paint
• To continue to refine finishes
• To use decoupage on a baked piece of polymer clay

Lessons Learned:
• Decoupage on baked clay opens up a whole new world of surface design and detail
• Smooth, refined finishes really elevate a simple form into something that feels complete
• Working on a functional piece requires thinking about both structure and aesthetics
• Small objects still need careful planning to look intentional rather than improvised

Confidence Level: 9/10

Notes:
• This piece feels like a playful nod to creativity itself
• I enjoyed combining function with a bit of storytelling in the design

You can see the ridges of the thick varnish I used – perhaps it would be better to use resin or something else to seal it. Also, perhaps the silver metal at the top of the tube should match the crimped gold end. The next one will be better.
