Day 73 – 100 Days of Polymer Clay

Technique: Faux Tiger’s Eye necklace and earrings
Win: Yes, finally

Challenge:
• To get better stripes in the faux stone

Lessons Learned:
• I need to find a better way to finalise my pieces that need a shiny finish
• Buffing with my little battery-operated tool works, but not entirely
• Using ultra fine sand paper also doesn’t give the finish I want
• Small adjustments in colour placement and line direction make a huge difference to the overall effect

Confidence Level: 9/10

Notes:
• I still don’t quite have the stripey effect of natural stone, but I am getting better at getting the lines near what I want them to look like
• I used a bit more gold and sparkle than some tutorials, and I am happy that it gives a Tiger’s Eye effect, even if it is not perfect yet
• This feels like one of those projects where persistence is finally paying off. Comparing this attempt to my earlier ones, I can see real improvement in the depth, movement, and shimmer of the “stone”
• The necklace and earrings work well together as a set, and I think the extra warmth from the gold tones gives them a more magical, polished look rather than a strict natural stone copy
