Technique: Pastel Extruder Cane Pendant and Matching Earrings
Win: Yes
Challenge:
• To create a pastel cane to use for a pendant and a pair of earrings
• To choose pastel colours that work well together
• To move away from my usual solid slab pendant style and create something with more dimension
Lessons Learned:
• I really love this extruder effect. It feels magical and organic, almost like the clay arranges itself into tiny flowing bullseyes
• Pastel colours are not usually my first choice, but I ended up enjoying how soft and calming they looked together
• Using the embossing folder to raise the flower in the centre gave the pendant more interest and texture
• Once the flower was added, the piece felt unfinished until I framed it with green, which pulled the whole design together
Confidence Level: 8/10
Tiny clay weather report: partly pastel, with a strong chance of “just one more pendant.”
