Day 75 was like one of those “beautiful detours” days, where the technique wandered off the map and the piece decided to become its own creature anyway
Technique: Shattered clay pendant
Win: No, but yes
Challenge:
• To try the shattered clay technique to create an uneven finish
• To colour the layer with mica powder to enhance the texture
Lessons Learned:
• This was my third attempt at this technique, and it still didn’t turn out the way it is supposed to
• Instead of scrapping it completely, I pivoted and created a flatter pendant with layered pieces attached to it
• The final texture came from embossing powder, which added an interesting surface effect
• It may not be true shattered clay, but it still became a piece with its own character and charm
• Sometimes the lesson is not about mastering the technique immediately, but about learning how to adapt creatively when things go sideways
Confidence Level: 8/10
