Technique: Translucent clay with green “gold” leaf
Win: Yes
Challenge:
- To create thin earrings using translucent clay and explore the effect of light passing through the clay
- To experiment with layers and raised sections to create depth and dimension
- To add green “gold” leaf for contrast and a touch of shimmer
Lessons Learned:
- Translucent clay is still quite difficult for me to condition and work with smoothly
- The thinner the translucent clay is rolled, the more beautiful and delicate the final effect becomes
- I really enjoyed experimenting with layers and levels, as it gave the earrings a more interesting look
- The green leaf added just the right amount of sparkle and made the translucent clay feel more alive
Confidence Level: 8/10
Notes:
These earrings feel a little like tiny pieces of sea glass that wandered into a fantasy forest and picked up treasure dust on the way
