Day 998 – 100 Days of Polymer Clay

Technique: Simple Rainbow Skinner Blend Earrings with Texture and Bling

Win: Yes

Challenge:

  • To use small amounts of red, yellow, and blue clay to create a rainbow Skinner blend
  • To add texture to the surface for extra visual interest
  • To incorporate silver “gold” leaf to give the earrings a touch of sparkle and shine

Lessons Learned:

  • I never seem to tire of rainbow colour palettes. They always bring a sense of joy and vibrancy to a piece
  • Adding a little metallic bling can elevate even a very simple design
  • Skinner blends remain one of my favourite ways to create beautiful colour transitions from just a few basic colours
  • Simple shapes, such as circles, continue to be a reliable and effective foundation for earring designs
  • Sometimes the combination of colour, texture, and a small decorative element is all that is needed to create an attractive finished piece

Confidence Level: 9/10

Notes:

  • These earrings are a great example of how a simple concept can still feel polished and eye-catching.
  • The rainbow blend paired with the silver leaf created exactly the cheerful, slightly sparkly look I was hoping for.
  • This is a design style I would happily revisit in the future.
  • I have not put studs into these pieces as I have run out. I will put them in as soon as I get more.
