Technique: Symmetrically detailed dangle earrings
Win: Mostly
Challenge:
- To create a set of dangle earrings with symmetrical flower details
- To make smaller, more delicate leaves and petals while keeping the design balanced
Lessons Learned:
- Symmetry is still something that requires a great deal of patience and practice, especially when placing multiple detailed elements by hand
- Small components such as petals and leaves are much harder to shape consistently than they first appear
- Colour placement has a surprisingly strong impact on the final design, especially when trying to create contrast between the stud and the dangle section
- Softer colours can create a gentle and elegant look, but stronger contrast may help detailed elements stand out more clearly
Confidence Level:
8/10
Notes:
- I was inspired by a pair of dangles I saw previously that used the flower colour in the background to tie the whole piece together with the stud
- I really like the softer yellow tones used in this piece, although I think a darker yellow stud may have created a stronger visual contrast
- This project felt like careful tweezers-and-patience work
Tiny petals have a way of behaving like rebellious confetti when symmetry enters the room
