Technique: Lacey pendant
Win: Yes
Challenge:
- To create lace using a mould
- To place the lace onto a round concave pendant
Lessons Learned:
- I absolutely love this lace effect. It gives the pendant a soft, delicate look that feels a little like wearable porcelain or antique fabric pressed into clay
- The mould is technically designed for liquid clay, so using firmer clay takes a bit more patience. I found that slowing down and pressing the clay in carefully makes a huge difference, and once the pattern is fully captured, it works beautifully
Confidence Level: 9/10
Notes:
This piece felt elegant from the very beginning. There is something strangely satisfying about seeing detailed lace emerge from a simple mould, almost like uncovering a hidden pattern in frost or icing sugar. The curved pendant shape also gave the lace a softer, more vintage feel that I really enjoyed.
